Dear Participant, We are honored and are looking forward to welcoming you at The 2nd Latin America Congress on Controversies to Consensus in Diabetes, Obesity and Hypertension (CODHy), March 22-25, 2012 at the Royal Tulip Hotel in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Language English is the official language of the Congress and there will be simultaneous translation to the following three languages: Portuguese, Spanish and English.
Transportation Arrival from the Airport to the Congress venue; Galeao International Airport (GIG) is located 20km (13 miles) north of Rio de Janeiro. The airport is connected to Rio de Janeiro by two major roads, Linha Vermelha and Avenida Brasil. It has two terminals which are linked by a travelator. Information counters can be found on the second floor in Terminal 1 and on the Departures floor in Terminal 2. Computerized information screens are available in Terminal 2.
Taxi Taxis are available, although visitors are advised to ignore the RDE taxi desk and go to the Rio de Janeiro State Tourism Authority desk instead and buy prepaid taxi vouchers. Otherwise, passengers should ensure that their taxi's meter is cleared of the last fare.

Please register upon arrival in order to receive your kit containing the Congress Program Book and your personal name tag. Please remember to wear your name tag to all Congress activities and social events.
Welcome Reception All registered participants are invited to the Welcome Reception, which will take place on Thursday, March 22 at about 19:30. Invitations are included in the personal registration kit.
Lunch A buffet lunch will be served for participants of the Congress on Friday, March 23rd at 12:30-13:30 and Saturday, March 24th at 12:30-13:30.

Speakers' Preview Room Speakers are invited to visit the Speakers' Preview Room prior to their lecture and upload their presentation. Speakers should bring their slide presentations to be uploaded for their sessions no later than one break prior to the session in which they are scheduled. The Speakers' Preview Room will be open during Congress hours as follows:

Poster Presentation Poster presenters should plan to be beside their posters during the designated coffee breaks, as specified in the program. Please see the Congress Secretariat for board allocation at the Congress. Posters should be mounted on Friday, March 23, 2012 from 7:30 and removed by 13:00 on Sunday, March 25, 2012. The Organizing Committee is not responsible for posters that are not removed on time. Poster presentation times are as follows:

Guided Poster Tour A Guided Poster Tour will be conducted on Saturday, March 24, from 16:45 – 17:45 for poster viewing. Selected Poster authors are expected to be present near their poster this day for the hour long tour. All registered participants are invited to join the tour! Refreshments will be served during the tour.
Certificate of Attendance Your certificate of attendance is included in your personal Congress Kit.
CODHy Feedback Form Please note that you have a Feedback Form in your Congress Kit. We would greatly appreciate hearing your comments. Once completed, this form may be handed in to the Registration Desk.
Internet and E-mail Free internet stations will be available during Congress hours.
Refreshments Coffee and tea will be served during the coffee breaks between sessions, as specified in the Timetable.
Visas
Prior to booking flights, registrants are strongly advised to confirm with their travel agent whether they require a Visa to travel to Rio de Janeiro. Information about Visa requirements can be found on the World Travel Guide website: www.worldtravelguide.net. ComtecMed will not be responsible for any cancellations or delays caused by authorities due to a lack of Visa or other required documentation.
Currency The currency used in Brazil is called the Real (R$). Foreign currency may be exchanged at banks, travel agencies and authorized hotels. Travellers’ cheques as well as currencies are easily exchanged at these locations. International credit cards are accepted at most hotels, restaurants, stores, travel agencies, car rental companies and other companies that render services to tourists.

Liability and Insurance The Congress Secretariat cannot accept liability for personal accidents, nor for loss of, or damage to private property of participants, either during or directly arising from the 2nd Latin America Congress on Controversies to Consensus in Diabetes, Obesity and Hypertension (CODHy). Participants should make their own arrangements with respect to health and travel insurance.
