Getting to the Hotel Congress:

There are 2 airports in Shanghai: The International Pudong airport and the Domestic Hongqiao airport.

People who will be flying directly will most probably fly to Pudong airport which is closer to the Congress Venue.

If you fly through another destination within China (such as via Beijing) you might land in Hongqiao airport which is on the other side of the city and it will a 1 hour drive at least, with no traffic and during rush hours, between 1.5-2 hours drive.

You have 3 ways to get from Pudong airport to the hotel:

1. Taxi - it takes about 25-30 minutes with no traffic to get to the hotel. Rush hours are usually mornings 07:00 - 09:00 and 16:30 - 18:30. During Rush hour it should not take more than 1 hour. Price range is between 100 - 150 RMB one way.

2. Maglev Train - this is a bullet train that travels 400 Km per hour and it travels from the airport to the Longyang station (there is only 1 station) in 8 minutes. From the station it takes another 5 minutes by taxi to reach the hotel. Price for one way ticket is 50 RMB.

3. Metro line 2 - their is a metro line from the airport that takes you close to the hotel. You will then need to change to line 7 to arrive to the hotel. In total this can take you about 40 minutes and the price is around 5-10 RMB.

Getting around Shanghai:

By Taxi
A convenient way of getting around in Shanghai is by taking one of the city's many taxis.
There are plenty of taxis in Shanghai. Simply wave your hand at one and it will stop for you, or order a taxi from your hotel.

Subway
Currently there are 12 subway lines in Shanghai that can reach major parts of the city. The Shanghai subway is clean, comfortable and convenient, which makes it one of the best ways to explore the city.

By Bus
There are many public bus lines which can take you to every corner of Shanghai. The cost of the bus depends on the distance traveled.

Ferry
There are more than 20 ferry lines linking Shanghai's Pudong and Puxi Areas.

Tip
When traveling around Shanghai, ask for a card with the hotel's name in Chinese from the receptionist of your hotel. This will be very useful when directing taxi drivers or if you get lost.
